What matter manipulator upgrade is the best? just wondering
What's on your mind?
Hey everyone. Today we'd like to announce that this Wiki's admins and core editors are officially moving away from Fandom's website onto a new server. The new wiki domain can be found here. We've discussed leaving Fandom for years and now we've finally decided to take the opportunity.
What is forking?
Forking is the process of leaving frackinuniverse.fandom.com and moving to our new domain. All of the admins, moderators and many of the active editors have already moved onto the new site.
Short answer: To move away from Fandom.
Longer answer: Here are a few reasons:
Wikia/Fandom's movement away from wiki content to click bait blogs and editorials. Their rebranding from "Wikia" to "Fandom" only confirms that they want the site to be less of an encyclopedia and more like a social media site.
*Speaking of the videos, they are made by Fandom staff with content that we have no control over. While there is an option to disable them for logged in users, guests of the site will still see them and the majority of our viewers are guests. If visiting our website via mobile devices, this becomes quite apparent as the pushed advertisements often make many pages unreadable.
Fandom's security allows vandals and trolls to easily remove content from pages and there's no way for us to see IPs to handle these cases more easily.
Fandom doesn't care about us nor do they care about Starbound or Frackin' Universe. Our community voluntarily edits and handles the site daily for free while they're reaping the benefits from all the advertisement revenue.
On January 2020, they forcibly removed all Forums and replace them with their social media-like 'Discussions' feature.
Who is running the wiki?
What happens to the old wiki?
Well, we plan to stop editing it. It'll be moderated for vandalism, but without proper article progression and quality control, it'll eventually become obsolete. We'd also like to note that all Frackin' Universe Wiki-related social media such as the Reddit or Discord will now be affiliated with the new wiki.
Is this why the Main Page changed recently?
What about SEO and traffic?
SEO will be a problem since Fandom is basically all over Google, but we hope the traffic we get on the new site after this announcement will bring our search position higher. We believe the new wiki's domain (frackinuniverse.miraheze.org) and its improved mobile functionality will assist us in this endeavor. That said, we would be truly grateful if the Frackin' Universe community supported us with this project by spreading news of the new wiki's existence.
We've tried to add all the custom features Fandom had such as change-logs, and formatting. While different from FANDOM, some benefits of using Miraheze include having no advertisements, increased load speeds, and that the Miraheze project is open source, meaning that even if the domain begins going somewhere we don't like, we can fork and host it.
*We plan on transferring not only all the wiki content found here to our new location, but also working on transferring FANDOM profiles. You will need to create a new account but in time, an admin can reassign your edit history and contributions to the new account.
*Several new pages will be introduced such as an updated interview archive, a model sheet archive, a pose reference gallery, and more.
*If you'd like to discuss the new server and ways to improve it, please check out the new forum, contact us on Reddit, or join our public Discord server. Links to all of them can be found on the new site or here
This decision wasn't an easy one; some of us have worked on this website for over 5 years. However, we've also seen how wikia / fandom's policies have changed over the years and have a pretty good idea of where it's going. We'd like to continue providing information about the Frackin' Universe as it continues to develop and we'll absolutely need your help to do it. Thanks again for your support and we hope to see you on the new wiki.
Where is the Frackin universe Wiki moving to? I would like to know to keep myself updated.
The Master Manipulator doesn't seem to be 10x10 now it just defaults to 1x1. Is there a mod that does this or is this something frackin universe has broken? Also the description says that it's still broken. Need help
i cant find anything on how to get it and i need some
Does anyone know any objects that have the "felin" object tag? Thanks
I have played through this mod a couple of times now (Frackin Universe), and I'm pretty familiar with the first missions, but during the one where you enter the dark cave and get your first techs, I decided to cheat a little bit and turn on fullbright to see if there were any easter eggs I was missing. I eventually came across an inaccessible room with a chest in it, which I could see through the wall just above the entrance to the boss chamber, where all the treasure chests are. I cheated more and teleported into the chamber, and inside was an item called Unknown Device. It is marked as an essential item with the description: "Some sort of previously undiscovered ancient technology" and the guide dude tells me to hold on to it and that it's important. I was curious about what it was so I looked it up and found absolutely nothing at all about it, so I decided to make this post. Can someone tell me what the heck this thing is and what it's used for/does/can be turned into?
When I take a weapon from Frackin universe it doesn't shoot, it keeps parallel to the ground and doesn't move it around. Initially, there was a shooting mechanic from Frackin universe, but after a while it disappeared and this problem appeared. Later I found out that I have a conflicting mod, I deleted it, but the problem is not gone. (I immediately apologize if something is written incorrectly, the translator does not translate perfectly, thank you)
Past the lava area in the Dark Caverns starter quest to PLAY THE GAME beyond lush planets, all forms of poptop seem to spawn in one place and interacting with them in any way causes the mission to despawn, therefor making it unplayable. I know this site will be moving but I hope those of you who read these posts try to fix the sudden error
I've been playing with FU for a while now and I noticed that it was quite complicated to find racial armors. For example, right now, I'm playing with a Nightar and I've had (and still have) a lot of trouble finding nightar objects, especially armor pieces. I don't know if I have to use densinium or penumbrite to craft nightars props. So I was wondering if there will be a section on the forum in the future for objects of different races?
If you were not already aware, please read this blog post about changes that are coming. Specifically, the Forums, Message Walls, and Article Comments are being replaced by newer tools.
I played starbound a year ago i now play it with mods ! hello
I have a bug with a manipulator, I can’t use it, because instead of a pickaxe I have perfectly generic item
Hello! I would like to help grow this wiki, which I've been silently and gratefully using during my playtime for quite some time now. However I've never contributed to editing any Wikia before and in general I am new to all that concerns formatting (I know just the very basics of the HTML code).
So I was wondering:
Is there any guide that explains the "style" to keep on the FU wiki?
Can new users edit freely or do edits have to be approved by a more experienced user before?
Is there any page with guidelines for editing this wiki/a list of questions frequently asked by contributors?
For now, I would like to start by maybe adding some images of the growth stages of plants (which is the next thing I'm going to dedicate myself to in Starbound) and perhaps bees and their honeycombs (but I think my contribution will be quite desultory, I don't think I will ever be a particularly active user).
Thanks in advance to anyone who will take the time to direct me :D
