The Aquapod is a small flying creature akin to it’s relative the Pteropod. Adapted to environments of harsh cold, this creature also stores precious and volatile liquids in the swinging sack beneath its torso. While its kin the Pteropod stores digestive juices and poisonous concoctions in its pouch, the Aquapod has adapted even more complex and viscous biological evolution. Stored within its sack are cryogens and biological gasses that when released, create an icy mist that instantly freezes a small area and rains frozen, razor sharp hail on anything below. Easily identifiable at a distance, the Aquapod constantly releases small shards of glittering ice from its body, firing them off in a dazzling display when not hunting.

This creature is capable of moderately quick flight, and combined with its small size, it can be a challenge to hit at range. More aggressive than the common Pteropod, this creature is more likely to swoop down on prey and attack with its surprisingly developed, and finely serrated teeth. The Aquapod's second method of attack is creating clouds of elemental ice that rain piercing cold hail on anyone or anything below. Being struck by the Aquapod’s hailstorm attack causes the slow status, freezing the target and significantly slowing movements for a time.

This creature can be found on Ocean and Rainforest planets.

Luna's Lab Notes[]

~ The cloud of ice left in the wake of an Aquapod blankets anything below its falling trajectory. This means that if another creature, including an ally Aquapod were to swoop under the attack, the creature would be bombarded by the Aquapod's attack, thus stopping the projectiles from reaching their intended target. An Aquapod cannot be struck by its own projectiles, but it can hit other hostile creatures.

~ The icy projectiles left by an Aquapod give off faint illumination and can be useful to both slow and illuminate enemies in dark environments. Additionally, the sparkle of the hail looks overall pleasing against a backdrop of darkness.
