Essentia Obscura is a strange, otherworldly liquid, that has a teal/cyan color to it, and a hazy hue.

When an entity gets in contact with Essentia Obscura, they will get the Insanity debuff.
Essentia Obscura is a good fuel source for the Quantum Reactor, and a subpar fuel source for the Precursor Generator. However, it cannot be used as a ship fuel.
A number of eldritch monsters in the Eldritch Fields and in Delta Freya II drop this fluid on death. Essentia Obscura is also created by Elder Bees, and can be both centrifuged and extracted from Elder Rotcombs.
When combined with Pus in a Liquid Mixer, the Pus is turned into Essentia Obscura, and Essentia Obscura can be mixed from Plasmic Fluid and Liquid Protocite, at a rate of 25 of each per measure of Essentia Obscura. Pus cannot be mixed with Essentia Obscura to generate more Essentia Obscura physically, however, as it will create Corruption when doing so.
Unfortunately, it seems that the Insanity effect induced by bathing in Essentia Obscura does not generate the Madness needed for Metaphysics research.
