Hello. I've recently come into the Starbound scene as well as Frackin' Universe and I see the wikia is... Quite lacking, to be quite frank. I've noticed that you have done a great deal and have helped users like me at the very least start out and understand things. I'm in the pursuit of even more knowledge, and I was wondering if you see this, if you'd be interested in getting back into contributing even more on top of the copious amounts of knowledge you've already spread. While this may seem a bit arduous, I was hoping I could be of help as well. I've done some minor contributions so far, but nothing to your scale. I'm still playing the game through, havne't yet completed, but I'm on the lookout as I go through to compile knowledge as I play. I was wondering if this endevour would be something you're interested in, even though you have said a while back you were taking a hiatus. I wasn't sure how long that was to be, but I was hoping you're doing alright and this quaratine especially has been treating you alright and maybe with this extra time spent at home we could try to figure more things out. Appreciate you!
I have honestly been rather depressed with the quarintine and all lately, however you are right in that I have been at home more often - and with more time than I know what to do with... I have been thinking about what you said over the past few days, and I have come to the conclusion that I will once again reengage with the FU wiki editing and updating. I have looked into where the wiki has been moved, and it seems to be a host that is ad free (which I adore)!
Even though it might be slow going at first, I will get back into the swing of updating in the next couple days likely. If you would like to help me, I would love to coordinate our efforts to make an effective transfer, and an even more comprehensive wiki this time around. I am unsure when this FANDOM wiki will be shut down, but my #1 priority in terms of updating will be the transfer of knowledge and content to the new wiki (which can be found here: https://frackinuniverse.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page )
If you are willing / wanting to help, I would really appreciate any and all help in transfering information from this current FANDOM wiki to the new Miraheze wiki as there is a million and one things to transfer haha (Crew, Biomes, Planets, Weapons, Armour, Monsters, Consumables, Bee shinanigains, Crops, Etc etc etc). Transferring all this information will make the new wiki look great, and help prevent any loss of knowledge / the work others have already put in. The process will likely include some reformatting into the new wiki's coding practices, however once we have some solid formats, it will likely go pretty smoothly. I look forward to everyone's efforts and help in this reguard! Also: thanks for reaching out to me - your message was super nice. =]
I believe wikia might have eaten my message... Oops!
To summarize what I said, I said that I would absolutely love to be of aid to you and work with you. I'll get started on the transferring of pages over, but I was also wondering if you had a site in which we could communicate in more real-time, than just message boards. I have a discord, which my user is Djracem#4764, and we could create a server that logs notes and such that don't have a specific place on the wiki, logs what we have done, create tasks, etc.
Here's to hoping things improve, mental health included!
Hey I have a question, I don’t know if this where to ask but I keep having issues with the mod because it was causing problems for me and a friend like for example the colony deed we used that was specifically for a race kept spawning the wrong race tenants. I don’t want to sound rude but the lack of information on the Fracken Universe makes it hard to find solutions. I just want to enjoy the Elduukhar I’m playing but it feels like it’s harder to find stuff for because they seem nonexistent unlike the Popular Avali that seems to be super easy to get information on and stuff for.
Good question and I can understand your frustration - I don't believe you sound rude, as your perceptions are accurate. As of now, this wiki is seriously outdated, under-developed, and overly expansive in terms of content when compared to the amount of people and time those few people have to dedicate to completing the wiki. However this does not stop those interested in doing the work from updating the wiki. slow going as it may be.
More directly, races that are included in FU are, in many cases, are seperate content that are included in patches as the content creators desire (or when their assets are stolen). This said, sometimes the content creators do not include very many details, or their work contains bugs, or there is a lack of content...
Please take this information with a grain of salt, especially for the less popular content as their is often less content already noted. I could do some digging if you have specific questions - however I don't have a strong interest in updating races at this point (though I always have interest in helping others with the content of this mod). If you are interested in doing the work, you could always access the Github page and dig into the archives to try and find more information yourself - if there is any (some of the races don't add tenants, furniture, armor, or anything outside of a new character look).
Reguardless, I hope you have been having fun with your friend! I can try and help if you are interested. I am still learning coding, and updating of the wiki myself - I do not know how much help I could be, however I would do my best!
I am here to report that I have finished putting together the Frozen Volcanic biome page. Everything from the format that you've provided for me over a week ago is to be found on the page-- everything that I was able to find, of course. Throughout searching the github, I was unable to find a planet image that matched the form of the Eden planet found in https://frackinuniverse.fandom.com/wiki/Eden, if one even exists. Additionally, I am unable to find a quote suitable of describing the Frozen Volcanic planet if that exists either.
Aside from these absent page elements, and the wildlife images that are yet to exist, I believe that I am ready to begin constructing the page of another Frackin' Universe biome. If there are any biomes that you are aching to have completed next, I will start whenever possible. However, if you feel that the Frozen Volcanic biome page is still in need of edits, fixes, and any of the sort: I'll readily fix them. Just give me the word and I'll get to work with ten tabs open.
Thanks again for making format and allowing for me to try it out. Without it, I'd still be following that of the best-looking page and applying that to every page.
Thank you for the time and effort you've put into the Frozen Volcanic biome page - it looks incredible! Looking over the Frozen Volcanic page, I just added a quote at the top that I felt was fitting, and did some small formatting edits. Overall I think the format fits the needs of the wiki and contains all relavent information a biome page would need. Now that we have a the format for what all biome pages can look like, I look forward to being able to work along side you on filling them out and updating any biome pages as needed with the new format. I plan to continue working on Monster pages in tandem with updating the Biome pages, so it will be slower going on my end. As for a biome page I want to see updated first - Tidewater plaese! I love the aesthetic of this biome and would really enjoy seeing it updated with proper formatting.
Additionally, I know that the formatting we have come up with thus far works for planets / major biomes, however smething I've noticed is that Sub-Biomes don't have information for all the categories we've established for main biome pages (such as codex descriptions, sub-biomes, etc). I am thinking that we should make a seperate format for sub-biomes.
Perhaps we can work through all the planet / primary biomes and then create a format for sub-biomes once we've completed all the primary biome pages? What are your thoughts on this idea?
I am glad that you enjoy the Frozen Volcanic page. The Tidewater biome looks very interesting and will be worked on next. Similar to how I've handed the dangers and exploration of the Frozen Volcanic, I'll be generating a fresh character to live on a Tidewater planet with only a Poison EPP and the starter items provided by my ship.
As for a subbiomes, I believe that coming up with a format based off of the primary biome format will do us well. A tweaked version of the format used in the Frozen Volcanic without the codex description, possible weather, subbiomes, and maybe the settlements and dungeons sections can work, but I'll let you decide on how this should be done.
So I was browsing the wiki and found some thing called the "Veilendrex." However, there was no page, all it was was a name on the "Monsters" Page. So I tried spawning one, and it worked! I made a page on it (see here), but I am phenomenally bad at digging through code, so there are a lot of blank spaces to fill out. I would like to ask you to maybe try and fill in some blanks.
I whole heartedly agree to filling in this creatures page - The Veilendrex looks way too interesting for me not to do some research on. Thank you for creating a page for the Veilendrex and adding so much information already. With the time I have tonight, I will do some research on the mighty fish and add as much info and details as I can into the page you have created for it. I look forward to trying to cram this huge fish into my lab room haha. Before I do try and cram it into the lab room however, do you think I should fill the space with a type of liquid to make the creature look fitting? Or perhaps I should leave the creature flying like I had done with the dolphin or shockjelli page - let me know what you would prefer, and what liquid (if any) I should fill the room with before the addition of the massive fish.
I think filling the space would be great and wouldn't even interfere with the visuals, as the Veilendrex's graphics appear to be rendered in front of the liquid unlike most other creatures. I suggest water as I haven't tested the others yet.
I will have time to get started on this creature page later tonight, and I very much look forward to doing so. I shall fill the test room with water and wait for night to fall as to be dramatic with the lighting before I take the final picture (should also give me pleanty of time to run some tests on it's combat abilities and such). I look forward to finding out more about this one, and also to adding as much of the details to it's monster page as I can.
Thank you again for bringing this creature to my attention!
Yay! You saw it then? I'm glad you like it. Good call on adding liquid, the picture turned out great! Anything else you would like added to the page? (I plan on adding the biomes upon the completion of all other monster pages [this way I can go biome to biome and fill out every creature spawn systematically]).
So, would you still like my feedback and opinion of your avatar? If so, here are my thoughts: I like the character itself and the outfit compliments their dark features. As for the background, it's a bit too dark and takes away from the characters features. I like the copper piping as it fits the outfit but perhaps add some lighting. Additionally, the image is too far zoomed out and so when viewed in such small proportions, you can't make out any of the distinguising features unless carefully inspected. Personally, I'd crop the image down a bit to emphasize the characters waist up, and maybe have some small unique background. Nothing too fancy, but big enough to allow someone to know what they're looking at when viewing the small image. Does that make sense?
Additionally, there should be a link to the FU Discord at the homepage of this wiki - under the "home", there is "Discord | Guides | Work Board" Clicking the Discord link should get you to where you need to go.
As for my own Discord, feel free to add me - Aludriea#8861
I look forward to working with you - and please don't worry about having limited time. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Hey, Aludriea. I'm sorry if this a weird place to post this, but I noticed you like to cover the Frackin' Universe creatures, and I'm terribly sorry if this isn't even FU...
...But there's another hellspawn of a creature that I can't find any mention of. I'm about 60% it's Frackin' Universe. I've attached a picture. I've found them on CyberSphere planets underground. Oftentimes, they spawn in little pockets and can't get out until you hit them, at which pace they relentlessly pursue you. Killing a section of them can split them, killing the back half and having the front continue to chase you. Shooting them enough in the 'head' kills them, their spheres popping from the front to the back.
They're composed of various Distortion Sphere models, and one is just like a solar-centipede. I think the basic sphere one is incredibly deadly: After you kill them, they seem to (sometimes?) leave behind an invisible poison debuff. Wearing fully upgraded Valkyrie armour, this poison did 75 damage per tick. It kills me in 2 ticks.
I've tried to capture them to no avail, but I might have missed. Again, if this isn't even Frackin' Universe, I'm sorry. But you like to look into stupid annoying deadly monsters, right?
Ha, no need to appologize. I actually love looking into "stupid annoying deadly monsters"! This creature is indeed FU content, as I've seen it in the files - Off the top of my head, I know this is one of two monsters
- Burrower OR Distortion Snake
I know that there are 40+ kinds of Burrowers (and I'm saving their page to update last because of how overwhelming it is...) This could be a variety of one of them. However, it looks almost exactly like a DIstortion Snake (weird thing about that though is that I thought they had been removed from the actual game until some of their bugs were worked out).
I will do some research and give you a more comprehensive answer / additional info soon okay? (Working late tonight so I can't reply till later). Additionally, once I've found out what this creature is, I will ensure it has a monster page on the FU Wiki - that way you can leave a comment about your experiences with it. I do enjoy reading your comments on some of the creatures you've found (Especially the Flesh Reaper lol).
Thank you for reaching out to me. I will have more info for you soon!
The creature in the image you sent is called an Aquasnake. This is 1 of 5 unique types of "Distortionsnakes" found within the FU files (and apparently game) All types of Distortionsnakes are as follows:
With some of the testing I've done, I have identified that this creature is made up of two seperate monster types - A "head", and several "body" spheres (usually 5-10). The health pool is linked for these creatures, so dealing damage to the body can technically kill the whole creature - however it seems the head is significantly more suceptible to critical hits. While in the files this creature is coded to be capturable, there is not a proper input for the creatures name upon capture. Additionally, the "head" and "body" spheres being technically different monsters, yet linked in the coding, leads to the result of neither of these creatures ("head" or "body") to be tangibly capturable until the moment one type dies, at which point they are all considered dead.... Which results in the monster being uncapturable even with use of admin commands.
I will create a monsterpage for all Distortionsnakes tonight and update it with the information I've found thus far. Nice find with this one, I would have likely missed adding these to the wiki had you not brought them to my attention.
Hello, I'm the Wiki Manager for this wiki and I noticed that there doesn't seem to be an active admin at the moment. I think the CSS for this site is broken and was wondering what you knew about it, and if you'd like it fixed or changed. :) —Moviesign (talk) 19:38, May 22, 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for reaching out to me. I am not actually all that savvy in CSS. I've been learning little bits as I go, but just enough to structure and add to pages as needed. I'm not sure what you mean when you say that the CSS might be broken- Are you willing to explain what you mean and what would it involve / look like to change or fix it?
Broken was too strong of a word. It's more like "missing". For example, the Scorchburst page has a nicely styled infobox, but the infobox on the Infernus page is barely styled at all. The other thing I noticed is that your CSS is in MediaWiki:Common.css when it should be in MediaWiki:Wikia.css (the Common file was deprecated back when they stopped supporting the Monobook skin).
Do you know User:Sayterdarkwynd or have any way of getting in touch? Are you on the Discord server?
I see what you mean with the style gap between the Scorchburst and Infernus pages - though I don't fully understand what would need to happen to update all of the outdated pages properly (feel free to let me know what I can do moving forward to properly format my pages as I plan to continue updating the Monster pages / etc on this wiki).
I do not know Saterdarkwynd personally, nor have I contacted them as of yet. I am in the Frackinuniverse Discord server and so I could reach out to them. Would you like me to try and get them to contact you?
