The Precursor Biome is a mechanical subbiome generally found on higher tier planets, in particular Cyberspheres, but are also occaissionally found on Infernus or Ice Waste planets. It can be found on either the surface or all of the underground layers except the core. As of September 15 2017, this is the only place in the game where players have a slight chance to find Precursor Dungeons.

The Precursor biome is recognizable by its black and yellow mechanical blocks. Exploring these biomes is only recommended for stronger characters however, as they are full of dangerous enemies, such as the Precursor War Bot and the flying Heavy War Drone, both of which attack you with a barrage of deadly ranged attacks. However, exploring Precursor biomes can be worth it, as aforementioned enemies drop Precursor items, which are used in a multitude of useful recipes. As mentioned above, there is also the small chance of encountering a Precursor Dungeon, which potentially contains some of the mod's most useful crafting stations, most of which are portable and can be relocated to your own base. This alone makes a trip to this dangerous biome worth it.
